Amardeep Sharma is CEO of This is Modern India. He brings vast experience in finance with a long pedigree as an Investment Banker. He has worked in India, Middle East and South East Asia with ICICI Bank and Bank Muscat. His previous role was of a country head-Indonesia for ICICI Bank limited in which he advised Indian and US based companies and private equity firms to acquire assets in Indonesia. He was also responsible for funding and advising for both debt and equity to the companies looking for capital. He enjoys excellent relationship with the banks, government agencies, and companies worldwide. He holds a BSc in Mathematics and two MBA degrees from NMIMS-2001 and Oxford University-2009.
The principle artist and creative vision behind TIMI is an award winning photographer, journalist and broadcaster Tom Parker. Tom has spent much of the last two and a half years traveling the length and breadth of India - from top of the Himalayas to the bottom of the deepest Indian mines. He has amassed a definitive portrait of industry in India in all its fascinating beauty. Originally a reporter for BBC Radio 4 and the World Service, Tom contributes for such distinguished publications including the Sunday Times, The Guardian, Geographic, GQ, GEO, TIME, Wired, Esquire.
His partner Robert Stephenson is an award winning social entrepreneur with over 25 years experience in all aspects of the entertainment, music, multimedia and education. He also runs a global organisation dedicated to promoting an alternative and innovative education experience for teenagers called Blastbeat (www.blastbeat.org, www.blastbeat.tv). Robert has organized sponsorship from a range of international companies including Coca Cola, Vodafone, Virgin Airlines, Heineken and Tesco. He has six years experience constructing running social networking sites.
Professor Anthony D'Costa is a Professor in Indian Studies and Research Director at the Asia Research Centre, Copenhagen Business School. Earlier he was with the University of Washington for eighteen years. He researches industrial change in the global economy and has worked on the steel, automobile, and IT industries. He is the author of five books and edits two book series “Technology, Globalization and Development” and “India’s Changing Role in the Global Political Economy.” He is currently working on a manuscript on contemporary capitalism and the international mobility of IT professionals among India, China, Japan, and the US. He has received several competitive fellowships such as the Abe, UN University’s World Institute of Development Economics Research, Fulbright-Hays, American Institute of Indian Studies, Social Science Research Council (Korea Program), Korea Foundation, and Asia Research Institute (Singapore). At the University of Washington he was a Royalty Research Fund Scholar and was awarded Tacoma’s campus’ 2007 Distinguished Research Award. He was a member of the Board of Trustees of the American Institute of Indian Studies and currently serves as the Danish representative to the Nordic Centre in India.
